Grafton's 100 Mile Diet Event
Join us to help celebrate our 11th anniversary of this event
St. Andrew's United Church, Grafton is hosting our 11th 100-Mile Diet Event on September 9th from 12 to 4 p.m. at Grafton Arena located at 10766 County Rd 2.
Our Mission Statement for this event is: “To encourage & showcase local products produced on the land & to live with respect in creation”. Why should we support local producers? Why should we shop locally? Where does your food come from? How is it prepared? What is in your food? This is your opportunity to have these questions answered. Shop & meet your local farmers. Sample their foods. Ask questions about their products. CHEF DEMONSTRATIONS on the preparation of simple dishes using the food available that day gives you a chance to learn new recipes and techniques. Chef Steve Benns, Culinary Coordinator, Chef/Professor at Fleming College has been our chef demonstrator since our inception. Adam Hudson, joined Steve a few years later in demonstrating food preparation and has been a great asset to this endeavour. DONATIONS will be accepted at the door to support Northumberland Food For Thought School Nutrition Programmes. Apples were purchased with the $1,025.00 in donations last year. Thank you to all who contributed to this worthwhile programme. |
